2013 Golden Bell Award Winning School
Wild Rose received the Golden Bell Award from the California School Board Association for our iTouch into Foreign Language program. For the past three years, students in grades K-4 have had the opportunity to learn Spanish as a foreign language using apps from IPods with the direction from Mrs. Gonzales, Mrs. Lomelin, Mrs. Ranfar, and Mrs. Ruiz. Last year, Mrs. Carreon joined this team.
2008-2012 800+ Academic Performance Index for Student Achievement
Wild Rose Elementary School achieved an API of 822 as an all time high!! The API is the cornerstone of the Public Schools" Accountability Act signed by Governor Davis in January of 1999. The purposes of this index are threefold: to measure the growth of a school's performance over time; to compare a school's growth to all schools in the state; and to compare a school's growth to schools that are similar in the make-up of the school. API scores range from 200 to 1000. The State has set a target score representing very high performance at 800.Over time, all schools in the state are expected to reach an API of 800 or higher. Only students who have been enrolled in a school for twelve months or more are included in the API calculation for that school, ensuring that the API score represents students who have actually been instructed in the school's programs.
2006 California Distinguished School Award
In 2006, Wild Rose Elementary School was awarded the California Distinguished School Award. This award identifies and honors schools that have demonstrated educational excellence for all students and progress in narrowing the achievement gap. Schools must meet a variety of eligibility criteria including designated federal and state accountability measures based on No Child Left Behind (NCLB), Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), and the Academic Performance Index (API) requirements.
2006 and 2007 Title I Academic Achievement Award
In 2006 and 2007, Wild Rose Elementary School was awarded the Title I Academic Achievement Award. This award recognizes only schools receiving federal Title I funds for socioeconomically disadvantaged students. This award demonstrates that all students are making significant progress toward proficiency on California's academic content standards. These standards define the knowledge, concepts, and skills students are expected to acquire at each grade level.
Wild Rose demonstrated the achievement level of twice the school-wide API growth target, met all significant subgroup targets, and achieved twice the API growth target for the socioeconomically disadvantaged subgroup for two consecutive years. Additionally, Wild Rose made AYP for two years in a row, and at least 40 percent of the enrolled students met the poverty index. Title I is a part of the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and is the largest federally funded program in the country. It is designed to improve the academic achievement of disadvantaged students. Of more than 9,000 schools in California, more than 6,000 of them are Title I schools.
2006 National PTA Unit Achievement Award
In 2006, the PTA Unit Recognition Program has acknowledged and awarded Wild Rose Elementary School with this honor. The award recognizes schools that have met National PTA established goals related to parental involvement and membership growth. Wild Rose prides itself with recognizing the importance of the roles that parents play in the success of student achievement and the support that they provide to our schools.
